Please note: Sponsorship is not available for this position. <br> <br> <strong> Position Summary </strong> <br> <br> The Staff Accountant assists the accounting team with month-end close and the preparation of the financial statements. Duties also include assistance with other various projects within the finance/accounting organization including annual audit preparation and reconciliations. <br><br><strong> Essential Functions </strong> <br><br><ul> <li>Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements and MD&A in accordance with U.S. GAAP. <br> </li> <li>Preparation of monthly financial packages circulated to the management team. <br> </li> <li>Support the accounting function and teams, with a continuous focus on improving policies, processes, procedures and systems; month-end close process; consolidation; and accounting operations. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with US GAAP. <br> </li> <li>Perform period-end accruals, adjustments, recurring, and other accounting entries at the Corporate level and across the Company's operating segments. <br> </li> <li>Complete balance sheet reconciliations in your areas of oversight. <br> </li> <li>Work across the finance function to document and ensure internal control compliance. <br> </li> <li>Interpret and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual results. <br> <ul> <li>Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. <br> </li> <li>Assist in the preparation of financial statements to ensure accuracy of financial information and compliance with US GAAP. <br> </li> <li>Prepare account reconciliations (quarterly, at a minimum). <br> </li> <li>Prepare monthly account fluctuation explanations. <br> </li> </ul> </li> <li>Perform research, interpret technical accounting guidance, and assist in the documentation of areas including: <br> <ul> <li>Lease accounting <br> </li> <li>Revenue recognition <br> </li> <li>Financial reporting and related disclosures <br> </li> <li>FASB ASU pronouncements <br> </li> </ul> </li> <li>Assist with coordinating the activities of the external auditors to ensure successful completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits. <br> </li> <li>Analyze financial data to determine accounting, finance, and tax implications for all material business decisions. <br> </li> </ul><br><br><strong> Qualifications </strong> <br> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance <br> </li> <li>Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation preferred <br> </li> <li>Critical thinking and analytical skills, including the capacity to identify, assess and prioritize competing interests and needs <br> </li> <li>Skills and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing to convey complex concepts clearly and logically <br> </li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate discretion <br> </li> <li>Skill and ability to strategically execute within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented and complex environment <br> </li> <li>Knowledge of specialized tools is a plus but not required (Microsoft D365, reporting software such as deFacto, Basware, Blackline) <br> </li> </ul><br>Note: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
