This role serves as a foundational leader responsible for <b>developing people, driving sales execution, and establishing operational discipline</b> to support sustainable growth. <br><br>This position is a critical people leadership role and culture builder. The Manager will recruit, coach, and develop brokerage talent while ensuring day-to-day brokerage operations are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-growth environment, brings strong transportation industry experience, and can translate strategic direction into consistent team execution. <br><br>Working closely with KAGL's senior leadership team, Brokerage Manager will help establish North Canton as a scalable brokerage hub by building a high-performing team, reinforcing best practices, and delivering service excellence to customers and carrier partners. <br><br><b>Essential Functions</b> <br> <br> <b>Leadership, Talent & Branch Development</b> <br> <ul> <li> Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop brokerage talent to support rapid and sustainable growth of the North Canton office </li> <li> Coach early-career and mid-level brokers on sales behaviors, operational execution, and professional development </li> <li> Build a high-performance culture centered on accountability, learning, and continuous improvement </li> <li> Support career pathing and leadership development within the brokerage team </li> <li> Translate company strategy into clear expectations, workflows, and KPI standards </li> </ul> <br> <b>Sales Execution & Growth Support</b> <br> <ul> <li> Drive growth of the brokerage business unit in partnership with senior leadership </li> <li> Support brokers in cradle-to-grave sales and account management functions including: customer acquisition, carrier sourcing, and account development </li> <li> Reinforce best practices in prospecting, pipeline management, margin discipline, and customer retention </li> <li> Ensure consistent CRM usage and activity tracking </li> <li> Collaborate with Business Development and asset-based transportation teams to identify cross-functional opportunities </li> </ul> <br> <b>Operational Execution & Service</b> <br> <ul> <li> Oversee daily brokerage operations across assigned accounts, modes, and regions </li> <li> Ensure loads are executed according to customer requirements, contracts, and SOPs </li> <li> Monitor service performance, including on-time pickup/delivery, exception management, and service recovery </li> <li> Serve as escalation point for operational issues, service failures, and customer concerns </li> <li> Ensure accurate and timely TMS updates to support billing, visibility, and cash flow </li> <li> Promote compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards </li> </ul> <br> <b>Process & Performance Management</b> <br> <ul> <li> Track team performance against KPIs such as volume, margin, service levels, and productivity </li> <li> Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance efficiency and scalability </li> <li> Partner with operations, compliance, and finance teams to ensure disciplined execution and cost control </li> </ul><br><br><b>Required</b> <br> <ul> <li> 5-10+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations </li> <li> 3-5+ years of people leadership, coaching, or team management experience </li> <li> Strong understanding of truckload and brokerage operations; exposure to bulk/tanker freight preferred </li> <li> Working knowledge of TMS platforms and brokerage workflows </li> <li> Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and communication skills </li> </ul> <br> <b>Preferred</b> <br> <ul> <li> Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred </li> <li> Experience in brokerage, 3PL, or asset-light logistics environments </li> <li> Exposure to bulk, tanker, HAZMAT, or specialized equipment operations </li> <li> Experience managing high-volume, time-sensitive freight </li> <li> Financial acumen with ability to manage costs and protect margin </li> <li> Strong leadership, interpersonal, and customer service skills </li> <li> Proficiency in MS Office and CRM platforms </li> </ul><br> <b>Travel</b> <br> <br> Up to 25% initially <br><br>Note: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
